Jonny DeLuca

TB Right Fielder #21

Rays activated Jonny DeLuca (hand) from the 10-day injured list.

DeLuca had been out since early March, but had a rehab assignment with Triple-A Durham last week where he went 0-for-4 with an RBI. The 25-year-old spent the 2023 season with the Dodgers where he had an average .740 OPS across 45 plate appearances. He’ll likely make his Rays debut sometime this weekend.
Alex Jackson

TB Catcher #14

Rays selected the contract of C Alex Jackson from Triple-A Durham.

Jackson hasn’t played in the majors since 2022 when he was with the Brewers. He’s spent the past two seasons at the Triple-A level and is having a solid season slashing .282/.344/.612 with seven homers and 18 RBI. He’ll act as the No. 2 catcher for Tampa Bay with Rene Pinto back in the minors.
Rene Pinto

TB Catcher #50

Rays optioned C René Pinto to Triple-A Durham.

Pinto will head back to the minors after recently losing playing time to Ben Rortvedt. The 27-year-old backstop has slashed .214/.292/.429 with two homers and six RBI in his 49 plate appearances this season.
Niko Goodrum

Rays optioned INF Niko Goodrum to Triple-A Durham.

Goodrum will head down to the minors after he put together just four hits in his 37 plate appearances with the Rays this season. The 32-year-old was added to the Rays in a trade with the Twins at the beginning of the season as infield depth, but he hasn’t made the mark he nor the Rays hoped he could.
Colby White

TB Relief Pitcher #41

Rays designated RHP Colby White for assignment.

The 24-year-old right-hander had a miserable showing this season at the Triple-A level with a 17.61 ERA across 7 2/3 innings. White had Tommy John surgery two years ago that made him miss most of the 2023 season, but he showed promise when he did return. If anything, maybe he just needs a fresh start with a new club.
Angel Chivilli

COL Relief Pitcher #57

Rockies recalled RHP Angel Chivilli from Double-A Hartford.

Chivilli could get his first opportunity to pitch in the major leagues in the coming days. The 21-year-old has a 2.35 ERA across 7 2/3 innings at the Double-A level, but is likely to head back to the minors after Justin Lawrence returns from his paternity leave.
Jose Ruiz

PHI Relief Pitcher #66

Phillies selected the contract of RHP José Ruiz from Triple-A Lehigh.

Ruiz will join the Phillies’ active roster as Yunior Marte heads to the injured list with a shoulder injury. Ruiz will provide bullpen depth for Philadelphia, which is something the team has been able to reserve given the strength of their starting rotation. The 29-year-old spent the 2023 season with the Diamondbacks and White Sox and had a 5.89 ERA across 44 1/3 innings.
Yunior Marte

PHI Relief Pitcher #43

Phillies placed RHP Yunior Marte on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 1, with right shoulder inflammation.

From a fantasy perspective, this isn’t major news for managers, but it’s a tough blow for Marte who was having a decent start to the season .The 29-year-old has pitched in 13 1/3 innings for the Phillies and has a solid 2.70 ERA with a 12/5 K/BB ratio.

STL Relief Pitcher #62

Cardinals recalled RHP Kyle Leahy from Triple-A Memphis.

Leahy will join the Cardinals this weekend after the team placed Steven Matz on the injured list. The 26-year-old pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed two runs against the Tigers earlier this week and will add bullpen depth for St. Louis.

STL Starting Pitcher #32

Cardinals placed LHP Steven Matz on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 1, with a lower back strain.

The 32-year-old will be sidelined for at least the next two weeks as he heals from a lower back injury. Matz pitched earlier this week and tried to push through the pain, but it appears it’s too much for him to continue without proper treatment and recovery.
